Iceland XXXVI - Sundhnúkagígar Volcanic Eruption Februar 2024 │ Part 133

* * * An eruption has started on the Reykjaness Peninsula in Iceland * * *
Increased seismic activity was observed at 05:40 in the morning of 2024-02-08, and it was an underground magma run, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Agency.
Then at 06, eruption began in the Sundhnúkagígar craters, north of Sýlingarfell.
It was stated in the announcement of the Icelandic Meteorological Agency that a Volcanic Eruption with a lot of magma flow had begun at Sundhnúkar craters.
On the 9th of February, the magma damaged the hot water pipeline, that supplies the villages of Reykjanesbær, Sandgerði. Hafnir, Grindavík, Garður, and Vogar, leaving them with no heating and consumption water.
When this is written we still don’t have hot water and outside is freezing cold, as it is high winter.
Luckily we have full electricity so now we are heating our houses with small portable electric heaters and using good winter clothes to keep us warm.
The Power plant at Svartsengi is repairing the pipeline and if all goes well we will have hot running water within 2 - 3 days.
It is our belief that this Volcanic Activity will not last longer than 3 – 4 days and another one will start within 4 – 5 months from now.
This is what we are always facing by living in Iceland – Newer ending Volcano Activity.
This footage is shot from my small hometown Vogar soon after the eruption began.
I just love Iceland.
